Functions and Roles of Sponge Vacuum Cups

Sponge vacuum cups are core components of industrial pneumatic gripping equipment. Based on the principle of vacuum adsorption and made of flexible sponge materials, they are specially designed for easily deformable, fragile, and uneven-surfaced workpieces. They are widely used in material handling processes of manipulators and automated production lines.

I. Core Functions

Vacuum Adsorption and Gripping

By connecting to a vacuum generator to generate negative pressure, the sponge vacuum cup fits closely to the workpiece surface and forms a sealed chamber. It firmly holds the workpiece by utilizing atmospheric pressure, enabling stable gripping and releasing without the need for additional fixture fixing.

Flexible Fitting Adaptation

The sponge material of the cup has excellent flexibility and elasticity. It can automatically deform according to the surface shape of the workpiece (such as curved, corrugated, and rough surfaces), fill gaps, ensure sealing effect, and adapt to materials with different flatness levels.

Buffering and Protection

The sponge layer plays a buffering role during the adsorption process, reducing the impact force when the cup contacts the workpiece and avoiding scratches, indentations, or damage on the workpiece surface. It is especially suitable for fragile items such as glass, plates, films, and cartons.

Multi-specification Adaptation and Adjustment

Sponge vacuum cups of corresponding sizes can be selected according to workpiece dimensions, or multiple groups of cups can be used in combination. Some models support adjusting the adsorption pressure to adapt to workpieces of different weights and materials, improving gripping flexibility.
